STORYTELLING TUESDAY IS BACK AT MISSION CREEK GOLF COURSE & THE LAUNCH OF WELL-BEING PANELS

We are starting our 6th season of Storytelling this month.  The above picture is from our very first Storytelling Tuesday.  I love these nights of connecting people, reflecting culture, and inspiring discovery through the art of Storytelling

Yannis Grill is hosting us upstairs at Mission Creek Golf Club on Tuesday September 8th.  There are two double doors in the back of the room that will be left open for air circulation, lots of space for social distancing and there is even an outdoor section if you prefer.  Yanni's Grill is the new restaurant at the Mission Creek Golf Course and the owners are fantastic.

We are EXCITED to be Launching our new on-line Event Series.  Well-Being PANEL.  Join us and hear what these Well-Being Leaders have to share to help you CREATE your best life.

Well-Being Wednesdays at RCA will continue on-line starting September 16th.

Coffee Collaborations are in person out front of the Rotary Centre on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

BalAnce Well-Being Business Members are here to help you create your BEST life - Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Donna Fairhurst

“Have you ever seen a waterfall you didn’t like?”

This question has been swirling around in my mind since I heard Donna Fairhurst pose it in a recent BWB video. It’s an apt metaphor for this “endless student of life on Planet Earth” who has been gathering and mastering a vast array of skills and gifts for decades. Like a river, Donna draws from many sources and can go deep to help her clients find their true selves and “know, grow, flow, and glow.”

Donna is a unique life/soul coach, Reiki master, psychic medium, empath, and aura and chakra intuitive who isn’t afraid of to face truths and surrender to personal change. However, her path to wisdom has been a long and circuitous one.

Fear and the Bear - by Cindy Maki

It was a clear warm evening that Summer Solstice of the bear visitation. A small group of friends and a watchful dog gathered outside around a campfire to connect and share conversation as life rolled through pandemic times. (What’s important about this so far is the gathering and connection.)

Part way through the evening an unusual scent drifted through the air, reminiscent of skunk – but not really. Mention of a bear sighting in the area in the past days stimulated a lively discussion as to the course of action in case there was more to come than scent. As a group it was decided there was no present danger. Then, bonded together in shared trust and focus they carried on with the evening, unhampered by the unknown

Dealing with Covid with a Sense of Humour - by Layton Park

This Covid thing has brought on several questions and old memories.

When I was growing up many families on our block, right in town, did not have indoor plumbing, instead they had an old fashioned out-house with a moon cut into the door for light, at the back of the lot.

In one of my humour books, I went to some length explaining that there was no toilet paper in most of these out houses, but rather old Sears and Eaton’s, newsprint catalogs. In the spring they were a little ratty after spending the winter as shin guards for young hockey players but then they went right back to the out houses.  This was recycling at its finest.

These catalogs were in most out houses until both companies went out of business and Canadian Tire took over but provided high gloss flyers, which was not a good replacement in the back house.

Healthy Conflict - Oxymoron or Essential Life Skill? by Barri Harris

I take great pride that others see me as someone who tries hard to find the "win-win" in most conversations, whether that is at work or with my family.  So I was shocked to realize that by trying to minimize or avoid situations that might involve conflict, I was making things much harder on myself and others!

How do you handle conflict?  Like me, do you try to limit your interactions with people that you find frustrating?  Conflict at home and at work is common, and in these uncommon times of working from home it is more important than ever to build your ability to handle conflict in a healthy way.
